1953 is I think the earliest year from which I have accurate memories, it just seems special. I memorised all the Saturdays in that year & was able to work out the day any date fell on from that & on my 7th birthday, I was given an every year calendar which I still have! . It was a momentous year, so many major events such as The Coronation, Everest climbed, the death of Stalin, storms on both sides of The North Sea & the sinking of the Princess Victoria, The Korean war ended. A watershed.
