Decimalisation, wise move or not

When they bought in the "funny money" I was 16 and didn't have to much trouble with it, it was older people who had the most problems with it comparing it to the "old money" pounds,shillings and pence and trying to work out just how much a florin was (10p). On many occasion I tried to explain that it was easy if they didn't try to compare the "old money" with the "new" and that now we were working in equal units 100 new pennies being a pound.
One thing that did become apparent when decimalization was an increase in prices and that was what everyone talked about, there was no doubt people felt short changed or conned
