90th BIRTHDAY REUNION BALL 10 FEB - FINAL NEWS 8Feb07


Hello everyone! The 10th February is almost upon us and I thought I would give you some information about the evening.

THE BALL COMMENCES AT 7pm WITH A RECEPTION TO GREET
MISS THOMAS and meet old friends.

DRIVERS please drop your party at the main entrance before returning to park your vehicle in the car parking areas to which you will be directed. A family car will be parked at the front of the building but all other cars must be in designated areas to maintain a clear way for emergency vehicles.

On entry to the main building EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO SIGN the Fire List with Linda Crawford. You are then invited to sign the School's Vistors Book to give a lasting record of the occasion. Whilst waiting to enter you will be able to scan lists of each decade to see who is attending as well as read other information on the evening. REFUNDS, where applicable, can be collected on arrival. They will be given in cash or a cheque if greater than £50.

A PHOTOGRAPHER will be available in the Dining Room upstairs between 7pm and 9.30pm for you to capture a memory of this special night.

From 7.45pm a rolling BUFFET will be available in the Games Room (formerly the Boys Common Room) until 10.30pm.

A BAND and DISCO will alternate throughout the evening. The Disco will be run by Craig Strong who worked for Radio Trent FM during the 1980's and did the Christmas Discos for a number of years. He remembers having to make announcements like "Forms 1 and 2 it's your bedtime now, please go upstairs".

A CASH BAR is available for your enjoyment in the Dance Studio (formerly the Art Room).

Between 9pm and 12am there will be FUN GAMING TABLES in the School Office (downstairs).

MEMORABILIA will be in the LIBRAY which will be open during the evening. Please have fun looking at old school photo's, buy some momentos and place your bids for the SILENT AUCTION OF SCHOOL TROPHIES. Profits from the evening will go to 'The Children's Wish Foundation' and 'The Parkinson's Disease Society'.

The Winners of the Silent Auction will be announced at 11pm.

The overall Winner at the Gaming Tables will be announced at midnight and will receive a prize.

It will be a truly memorable night !

RODNEY SCHOOL REUNION BALL 10 February 2007 - UPDATE 3Jan07

Below is a list of those who would have been attending the Reunion Ball. Sadly, after the enormous interest shown initially, not enough people have sent in their payment for tickets by the Absolute Deadline, which was today (3 Jan 07). Therefore, I regret to have to tell you that the event will not be going ahead. Miss Thomas's 90th Birthday will now be a quiet family affair only.

Miss Thomas and I are very disappointed that we will not be seeing many of you again. Perhaps some of you who are local would like to call on Miss Thomas in Newark sometime as I know she would like to see you. Telephone or email me at school and I can let you know when she is in. You could even call in at school and see the old place, I'll be here for a while yet - a telephone call first would be helpful.

I have included the list of people who would have been attending as I know that some of you would still like to meet and have your own get together (please do keep me in the loop).

RODNEY SCHOOL GRAND FINALE REUNION & BALL
EXTRA UPDATE 19 DEC 06 - URGENT !

Dear Friends,

As you know the deadline for us to have received your cheques for the Reunion Ball on Saturday 10th February 2007,
was Monday 18th December 2006. So far, out of the 400+ who said they were definitely/probably able to attend, only 100 have posted their cheques to me. We do need at least 300 people to make this a viable event as outlined in previous emails.

I know Christmas is a busy and expensive time but we do need everyone to commit financially and send us a cheque by WEDNESDAY 3rd JANUARY 2007. This is the ABSOLUTE DEADLINE for booking bands, caterers and marquee.

All those who have already committed are so excited about meeting old friends that they really want the Ball to go ahead. Miss Thomas is also enthusiastic about the Ball and rings up every day to ask us who has sent in their cheque. She is really looking forward to seeing everybody and celebrating her 90th Birthday with you all.

SO DON'T DELAY, WRITE THAT CHEQUE. YES - DO IT NOW ! .......PLEASE.

We have now completed our costings and can tell you that tickets for the Ball on Saturday 10th February 2007 will be £45 each.

The evening will include:
Champagne Reception
Fireworks
3 course meal in marquee
Live Band
Disco
Dancing until 2am
Licensed Bar
Fun gaming tables including Roulette, Dice and Black Jack
A photographer will be available during the evening
and more activities are planned

Come and renew old Friendships and dance the night away, whilst enjoying the ambience of the beautiful building and surroundings which were Rodney School.

Make your cheques payable to 'Rodney School' and send them to me, Miss G R T Howe at
Rodney School, Kirklington, Newark, Notts. NG22 8NB by NO LATER THAN MONDAY 18th DECEMBER.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CHEQUES WILL NOT BE BANKED UNTIL JANUARY WHEN WE ARE CERTAIN OF NUMBERS.

If you do not hold a personal cheque book, please consider going to your bank and obtaining a counter cheque for payment of ball tickets

We have had over 200 emails from you with 220 people saying they are definitely interested in attending the Final Reunion and Ball, and 211 probably interested. If all 431 people attend we would have a really good night !!

We will now look at costings and come back to you with a further update soon.
