1986:
Left Mortimer comp to train as chef at South Tyneside College. After I qualified and started work I found I hated it!

1990:
So I tried my hand at nursing (just picked a job at random in the Chronicle!). Now I was an auxiliary nurse at the Sue Ryder Home in Oxfordshire. I loved this job, it was a Hospice for people with terminal cancer. Very rewarding and educational on life and its realities. I left after 6 years to return to the north east.

1996:
Discovered graphic design thanks to Apple Mac computers. Studied BTEC graphc design @ Newcastle College and left with a distinction two years later.

1998:
Returned to care work for the council as I missed working with people. Also worked for the BNA where I got experience working in various homes and hospitals.

2000:
Became Community Support Worker at Wenlock Lodge, Simonside working with adults with learning disabilities. It was a joint residential & short break service. I moved up to senior position after 3 years. In 2004 we're told they are going to bulldoze it!

I met my wife Tracy while working there. She was a CSW at the time too. We married in Sept 2002. I have 17 year old stepson Luke and 5 year old Dylan. We all live in Sunderland.

2004:
Wenlock closed and Real Life Options employed me to deputy manage at Bisley Drive Short Break Service (for adults with learning disabilities). I had a great time setting the service up with a smashing staff team.

2007:
I got my NVQ 4 in care and Registered Managers Award - hurray!

2008:
Time to move on. I'm now the manager of a short break service based in Gateshead. I'm also employed by Gateshead Council. So I've achieved my ambition but it's been an interesting journey getting there.

Other Stuff
My wife, Tracy, is the Person Centred Planning Facilitator for South Tyneside Council.

I'm part of a Paranormal Investigation Team called Northern Ghost Investigations. I also run my own paranormal interest website and forum, see: www.hauntedland.co.uk (have quit NGI but still work on my own ghosty stuff on hauntedland)

Hope to hear from anyone and you're all doing well.

Please get in touch by any of these. cheers, Lee.
