I would like to state that I was born in the same Maternity Ward as Michael. Two years later in 1935 at St. Olave's Hospital, Rotherhithe. Now demolished. We lived in rooms in Rolls Road and then into a flat in St. James's Road. Bombed out in the Blitz and moved to Hayes, Middlesex in 1940. I now live in Ealing.
I can do a good "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" impression. I didn't know about the Rhyming Slang bit.
