Worsley boathouse, where the Duke of Bridgewaters personal inspection launch was kept. Queen Victoria travelled in it from Patricroft Railway Station to Worsley on a visit. It was later used as the local sea cadet boathouse. The water is iron tainted from the underground mines.

...and when the Queen came to visit in the 60's they dropped bags of dye in to make it go green!!!

I remember when the Queen came to WORSLEY. I was at Alder park school then. My Mother Dorothy worked at the little post office.The sea cadet unit (TS ILEX) is now further along the towpath towards Monton on the other side of the drydock.
