Established in 1964 as the first (and only) independent school of librarianship in the UK, with a Principal (Frank Hogg) and 3 lecturers. By 1968 it was the UK's largest library school with 400+ students. In 1989 it became the Dept of Information Studies of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth
