The Boys' School opened in 1895 and the girls' department opened in 1896. The building you see here was built due to growing numbers across the road on the opposite corner fronting Powell Road and was opened in 1939. The school became a co-educational comprehensive in 1972 and after a series of name changes finally closed in 2004. The future of the site is still under discussion. How wonderful if a private school could be opened here as it has wonderful facilities.
