The school opened in 1933 (the date is on the stonework above the original main entrance). It was built only one storey high due to old mine workings. Mr.Bannantyne was the first headmaster. In 2000 a new design created more classroom space, sports hall and saw the demolition of some original overflow outbuildings (referred to as "the huts") The Netherlee Boys Brigade Company (278th Glasgow) has met in Netherlee school since it was built. ..............Brian Dobson
