Dr Susan Walker at the British Museum in London today (Wednesday) holds a reconstructed head of Egyptian woman who was buried between the years AD 50-70 in Hawara, Egypt. The wax head was reconstructed from a skull which was part of collection excavated from the Hawara site over a hundred years ago. Until now no-one has been able to match up the skull with its corresponding mummy portait (seen here behind the wax head). It is hoped that by using this method, a group of skulls recently traced from this excavation can now be matched with their portraits which are currently on show in the "Ancient Faces" exhibition at the British Museum in London.
