Arthur Augustus Zimmerman, World Sprint Champion 1890

In the 1890s 'Zimmy', a 5ft 11ins tall American rode his way into cycling history by his phenomenal speed and indurance, winning race after race all over Europe and America.

Raleigh's strong racing heritage continued throughout the 20th and 21st centuries as our bikes helped several national and international champions to cycling glory - most notably, Joop Zoetemelk, winner of the Tour de France in 1980. Thanks to Raleigh
