Kept 21 times
The Bristol Type 167 'Brabazon' aircraft in flight. One of the biggest aircraft in the world at the time, it was shunned by the airlines as a "white elephant" and only this one prototype ever flew.
Remembered more than a year ago
My father took me to Filton to watch the first flight of the Brabazon. I must have been about 6 or 7 years old.

My Dad took my Mom and me to Filton to watch the first flight. We were parked on the road right in line with the landing flight path. I was, I think about 8 at the time, and Dad allowed me to sit on the hood of his car to watch. I was in awe of this huge metal bird with the long point on the nose. I live in Canada now, and have told my grandsons about this plane, and how I was one of the lucky kids that got to watch it's maiden flight, or landing thereof.

I can recall being on the road in line with the center of the run way as the Brab came into land and the noise as she flew over head was deafening. When she flew over our house it shook.
