BMX Burner 1984

BMX Burner 'New for Christmas '84'. The BMX range were part of a series of new-style bikes that were targeted at a younger generation of cyclists. Their chunky style and solid frames were ideal for the new trend of rough riding and stunts.

In 2003 Raleigh relaunched its most famous kids bike - the Raleigh Chopper - which is a collectors item for adults all over the world, and is also available from our online store www.cyclelife.co.uk Thanks to Raleigh

This was definitely the bike of my childhood era, and recall the advertisements for them as top of the cycling chain trend. However, riding these stunt performers uncomfortable as well as hazardous! - tried riding up a steep hill near a railway track and do a back wheel turn when I was 11 in 1984, and came flying back down the hill, bike in a different direction than me. They were often too small to do any creative stuff, and the boys used to throw them in the canal once they lost interest.
