Five members of the six man British Mount evereste expedition led by chris bonington (second right) at Heathrow airport when they left for Hong Kong en route to Tibet for an attempt on the mountain via the unclimbed east-north-east ridge. The others are (from left) Dick Renshaw, Peter Boardman, Dr Charles Clarke and Joe Tasker.
