The original Broxbourne Grammar School started with two small pilot intakes based at the local primary whilst the current 'Upper' school was being built. The first main intake of 90-ish was in 1961 bringing the complement to around 150 using the main building and Red House. It merged with the adjacent Baas Hill secondary modern (now the lower school)in the late 60's and became The Broxbourne School (comprehensive).
