Being chosen with several other girls from our class in Whittington Oval Junior School, to join in the choir. There were loads of different schools there. The sounds we produced was brilliant. There must have been at least one potential pop star there,I'm certain. Simon Cowell would have been spoiled for choice. Hee! Hee!.

I went to see Chris Barber at the town hall in1959 ans when I saw them again in Reading in the 8os spoke to some of the band who said that their 1959 concert was very special to them. It was my first real experience of jazz and led to a lifelong love of big band music and jazz. Happy days

I saw many Bands and artists including Shirley Bassey on two occasions in the town hall, the cheap seats were behind the stage.
The street lights suspended between the buildings look like they were the old Gas lights converted to Electric, I remember an old tower truck with the wood tower on the back that was used to service the street lights around the city, it certainly would not be acceptable today.

I sang on stage with Cliff Richard when he came to a Boy's Brigade Service. I was one of three young ladies wearing the new Lady Officers uniform. We looked like the Thunderbirds!!
