Lorries disembark from a ferry at Dover. Hundreds of truckers were stranded after a strike by French dockers closed the port of Calais. The pay dispute caused chaos as freight operators were unable to reach the port. *... and two P&O Stena Line ferries carrying a total of 1,000 passengers were turned back to Dover. All ferry traffic into Calais was suspended after dockers who operate loading ramps at the harbour went on strike. Kent Police launched Operation Stack, turning the M20 into a lorry park, and over 100 trucks remained there overnight.
