I'll always associate torpedos with the street-party we had at the end of WW2. Each child was given a triangular poke of sweets. Mine were torpedos, and were associated with your (child's view of) participation in the war. I loved the various colours, and the fact that you'd suck off the sweet exterior, then to find the bonus of liquorice inside. Magic!

Yes the red ones were good lipstick......used to suck them til I got to the middle and chewed the rest of it...
