Clydebank, Town Hall under construction 1900

The streets are packed with onlookers, and anxious officials wait by the entrance to the site of the new town hall. During the Second World War, Clydebank, given its size, suffered the heaviest bombing in Britain. Only seven houses escaped damage, thousands were destroyed or damaged beyond repair and many were hit more than once.
