MARCH 2: On March 2nd 1969, Concorde made its maiden flight. The Anglo-French plane took off from Toulouse and was in the air for 27 minutes before the pilot made the decision to land. The BA concorde flew its last scheduled flight on Friday 24 October 2003. Impressive picture as the mighty Concorde 002, British prototype of the Anglo-French supersonic airliner project, takes off from Filton, Bristol, on her maiden flight.
I remember this very well as though it was yesterday. My mother myself and my cousin watched this from half way down the runway at Filton. It was the best Experiance in my Whole life.

How could I forget it, it was a proud moment for me. I worked on Concorde, experimental Dept. When we brought it out from the Hanger to fly that day we were all anxius & excited. No need it was brilliant. What a plane. another great for Bristol.

I was there on my scooter. It passed right over my head and I then hot footed it to the Filiton Post Office to get my First day cover franked, being a keen philatelist at that time! The national 1st Day Cover came out too early as the flight had been delayed!!!

I remember this really well because as she took off my husband remarked that this time last year (1968) he had been walking on the wings whilst working in Toulouse!

I stood on the edge of the runway as it took off. I still remember the emotion and the goose pimples (and the noise)

I was on inspection on Concorde prototype 001 for six years and captured the first flight on video. I also have video I took when the Queen visited Filton on the 8th of September 1966 after the opening of the Severn bridge, Concorde at that time was just the front & aft sections.

I was there to see the maiden flight of Concorde - such a beautiful thing. I also saw Concorde take off on its last flight - so sad. Wonderful memories of Bristol. Margaret (Russell)
