My sister and I used to catch Minnows in jam jars. String tied around the necks and with small pieces of bread inside as bait, lowered carefully into the water. Any caught were taken home as pets !! Parents obviously couldn't afford a goldfish ! That would have very early 60's.

I used to go fishing there, with a net made out of my mothers old stocking ! The things we used to do when money was tight !
