A smashed carriage still blocks the station at Sutton Coldfield station today, (Monday) where rescue work is continuing among the wreckage of the 12.15 York to Bristol train, which became derailed there. At least 15 people lost their lives, and more than 40 were injured in the train, which had been diverted through Sutton Coldfield because of track repairs.
