Belonged to de Havillands (was Airspeed) Somerford Way School opened for their Apprentices in 1953 and closed late 50's before the local factory shut down in 1962. Last entrants in 1958. Some 350 apprentices passed through the school over the period 1953-8 There were apprentices before 1953. The staff offices were on the factory site. Graduate apprentices were accepted in 1954. They read Mechanical Engineering which was a external London University degree course.
