My brother was working at News International, and heard the news as it unfolded, he brought the various papers home, all printed the same night, first print said Diana injured in car crash, last print the News of the World, the header printed in black instead of the usual red, said that she had died, tragic, tragic day for us all

I remember waking up in France with a hangover and thinking the world (well theUK) had gone mad. The ex wife of prince charles dies ina car crash and the whole country grinds to a halt. Never liked the woman and thought the reactions at the time were way over the top, still do.

The thing I remember most vividly is the pathetic sycophancy of a large portion of the general public.

I was in a nightclub in town (Manchester). Had a late night and found out then. Having owned the exact same model of Mercedes and having driven it through the same tunnel. I found it hard to understand how such a thing could happen.
