Opened in 1965 by the Queen as an offshoot of Gordonstoun but with a more outward bound bent offering mountaineering, sailing, shooting etc in addition to the more usaul activities. Had a junior school which expanded rapidly to match numbers of the main school. Eventually closed its doors in 1972 due to financial difficulties. 30th reunion took place in July 2002 which was extremely successful during its 3 day event with 66 people at the dinner including the Countess of Sutherland. The dormitories remain much the same as they were 30 years ago and can be visited by old boys asking for a special tour.
