Esher College came into being round about 1974. Before that it was called Surbiton County Grammar. (Hence the link to SCGS.) The original SCGS was situated on St Marks Hill Surbiton, but moved to the Thames Ditton site approximately 1965. In anticipation of the change to sixth form college, girls were first admitted into the sixth form in 1971. Younger ages were phased out on a yearly basis from approximately 1974 I think. If anybody knows these dates more exactly, let me know and I'll change them. Stephen Bedding.
