Paul Gascoigne celebrates his goal with Teddy Sheringham in the Euro 96 clash against Scotland, at Wembley. R/I 17/10/1996 Gascoigne was alleged to have attacked his wife, Sheryl, in a drunken rage at the exclusive Gleneagles hotel. * R/I 31/5/98 It was announced that Paul Gascoigne was to be left out of England's squad for the World Cup finals in France. His hard-living lifestyle and well-publicised big nights out on the town are thought to have been the reasons for the decision.
Was the best England game I went to see, Scotland missed a penalty, the ball went to the other end of the pitch, Gascoinge scores wonder goal, went from possible goal down to 1-0. I would have loved to have seen the Scottish football suppoerters faces that gave us such grief on the Tube o the match when this happened!!! Venables manager, Baddiel and Skinner "its coming home song", Happy Days!!!
