Hitchin, Tilehouse Street 1901

Here we see an architectural paradise. Tilehouse Street, which was named in 1460, incorporates a string of houses
dating from the Tudor to the Georgian periods, with many of the earlier buildings refronted with brick and
remodelled during the latter era. George Chapman, who translated the works of Homer, was born at No 35 in 1559.
