Pam McComiskey, 60, a grandmother who has been helping children across the road to school come rain or shine in Stockport for the last 30 years, is to received an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours. * Pam took up the job of school crossing patrol at the gates of Romiley Primary in Stockport, Greater Manchester, when her youngest son started school in January 1970. More than 30 years on she is still there and has no intention of retiring.
