HUGH GRANT MAGGIE PHILIBIN AND CHERRY RICHARDSON 1996

Film star Hugh Grant joins TV presenter Maggie Philbin (right) and Cherry Richardson, mother of 19-year-old Melanie Richardson, who died from a kidney cancer, at the opening of the Melanie Richardson Adolescent Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. The unit, paid for by funds raised in Melanie's honour, will treat teenage cancer victims. Melanie was so taken with Grant's film "Four Weddings and a Funeral" that she planned her own funeral around the one in the film.
