Ireland & Independence - The Trial of Sir Roger Casement - 19161916
Crowds outside Bow Street court, for the Roger Casement Trial. Casement was an Irish patriot, poet, revolutionary and nationalist. He was a British consul by profession famous for his reports and activities against human rights abuses in the Congo and Peru, but better known for his dealings with Germany prior to Ireland's Easter Rising in 1916.Found guilty of treason in a highly sensational trial, Casement was hanged at Pentonville Prison in London on 3 August 1916.
