A great photograph Ken, but I don't think it is Ringway. I don't recognise the hangars and other buildings in the background.

The type of aircraft I first flew in Ringway to the Isle of Man circa 1952 only then it was a BEA logo on the plane.

My pal & i used to fly on these with BEA DC3's between Dusseldorf & Manchester. Forces return fare was £12 London, £15 Ringway.

Yes I think that you are right David, the passenger DC-3 only had a single door and once inside it was quite a climb up to the front of the aircraft! I also flew in one on leave from Germany to Manchester via Birmingham in 1956/7.
