Radio presenter John Peel arrives for the Sony Radio Awards presentation ceremony, in London. Veteran disc jockey won three prizes for his new Radio 4 show, Home Truths. *18/12/2000 John Peel was being awarded an honorary degree in music at the University of Liverpool. The 61-year-old DJ, who has presented shows on Radio 1 for 33 years, was being honoured for his "outstanding contribution to music".
