It was not Margaret Thacther that destoyed this industry it was the miners themselves with thier constant strikes for more money so that it became cheaper to import coal from abroad than get it out of the ground at home they followed Arthur Scargill like lambs to the slaughter it was so obvious that Margaret Thacther would not let them bring her down like they did Ted Heath
