We used to have Monopoly evenings in the 60s round various friends' houses - how sad is that?!

Late 1950s, I'd been playing this game with teenage pals at one of their houses when I noticed it was 2a.m. or so. Parents waiting at home; furious stepfather asks where I've been; told, tells me to go back where I came from. 'If I do, I won't come back again!' And I didn't. So Monopoly was responsible for my leaving home!

This game caused more family arguments in our house than any other game. But I now have one for my children.
