Wonderful story....certainly a picture and memory to treaure!

A colleague of mine at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in the 1960s/70s, former South African Cecil Williams had had to flee South Africa because he had worked with Mandela, pretending he was his driver until they were arrested, Cecil being placed under house-arrest. But he managed to escape by going 'on holiday' in a neighbouring country, and made his way to the UK, eventually being taken on as a drama-teacher. His story is included in Mandela's 'Long road to freedom'.

Great memory. But one of the bees in my bonnet........ A message to all photographers....Please get the subjects to look at each other when they shake hands...not at the camera. It would make a much better picture. Would you not look at someone when you shake hands and mean it? Or would you look away from them?
