Nellie The Elephant by Mandy Miller 1956

This was never a hit single, rather a tune that would often be played on BBC Radio in the 1950s and 1960s, particularly on the show 'Children's Favourites'. It lodged in the psyche of all the children who used to listen to the shows, and has been passed on as a favourite ever since. Do you remember hearing it on the radio at all yourself?

I can remember hearing this little ditty at The Billy Smarts Circus and several times on shows like CrackerJack
