Built of rose-red sandstone, Perth Bridge was completed in 1771. The city then had a population of nearly 8,000. It was still an important port, with several hundred vessels coming up river every year to discharge and take on cargo.
We used to have our sports day here on the north inch, if you were to go to the right of the photo the golf club office was about where we played, and if I mind right there was a drinking well at that monument I attended St Ninians' school and it was a nice walk home along the banks of the Tay up Balhousie St. to Melville Road
