Dame Joan Vickers was an often visitor to my school Oxford St Primary....I have film footage of her opening the new pool at the school and priceless vision of my sister attempting a courtsey as we presented her with a bouquet of flowers. Every year Dame Joan would provide breakfast in her appartment to all of Class 1 on the first day of their London excursion. David Owen continued the tradition when he succeeded Dame Joan.

I had tea with Dame Joan Vickers on her lawn at her home in Albemarle Villas, behind Devonport Park. I was one of the camapigners against the Vietnam War and I had a good debate with her.
