How does Friends Jobs work?
A jobsboard is an amalgam of a classified newspaper and a broker. It has two user groups; the job hunters and the advertisers of vacancies (recruitment agencies and employers). Job hunters register on the system with their details and job requirements. The advertisers place advertisements on the system specifying their job description, location etc and their expectations of job hunters attributes. The jobsboard facilitates the search of one for the other and also provides automatic alerts when a suitable job/applicant is added to the site.
For the jobseekers?
Job hunters can search for jobs free of charge after registering their basic details on the website. Registration enables job hunters to:
- Search for jobs in their town
- Upload their CV for recruiters/employers to search
- Receive a daily or real time email of the very latest jobs
- Save jobs and view the job application they have made
Search for job hunters CV's by location to town level, advertise jobs, receive a daily email of the very latest job hunters matching their criteria.
How much have Friends Reunited paid for the business?
The deal involves an earn-out, so it is difficult to be specific, however, we would expect the value to be in excess of £2 million over the period of the next 2-3 years.

The site is for everyone and anyone of working age looking for a new job and for recruitment companies and employers wanting access to a potential jobseeker base of 12 million people - Friends Reunited's members.

All of our services are about searching for people in one form or another. Friends Reunited started out reuniting old school friends and has quickly grown to include reuniting old work mates - there are already over three million people using this service, registered across 480,000 different workplaces. Now employers are using our workplace listings to find candidates, therefore it makes sense for us to offer the service ourselves.
Before Friends Reunited came along finding an old friend was like finding a needle in a haystack and now the site makes the search quick and easy. Why did Friends Reunited purchase Top Dog Jobs?
Acquiring TDG has enabled us to post 30,000 plus jobs on the site from day one and have an established employer base offering a broad range of jobs across the UK. There are also 200,000 CVs already on the site and an experienced customer services team in place. Within the next year we hope to have 500,000 CVs on the site and over 100,000 jobs posted each month.
Why did Top Dog Jobs sell to Friends Reunited?
The online recruitment business is growing at a phenomenal pace of around 40% per annum. While Top Dog outstripped this industry growth rate throughout 2004, it recognised that the ultimate winners were going to be the companies with the largest number of potential jobseekers.
