Anger at being ousted by Limp Bizkit for the accolade of 'Best Rock Video' at the 2000 MTV Awards led bassist, Tim Commerford to attempt scaling of the stage. That proved to be the final straw for Zack de le Rocha. The band split soon after, with del la Rocha citing the fact that "our decision-making process has completely failed, and has undermined our artistic and political ideal." as the reason.
