Remembering The Queen's Silver Jubilee 1977

Not everyone was celebrating though. The Sex Pistols (here signing a recording contract outside Buckingham Palace) released the protest song God Save The Queen during the Silver Jubilee. The band had planned to charter a boat and perform as they went down the Thames - the idea being that it would be heard as it passed the Houses of Parliament - but the day ended in chaos when police forced the boat to dock and arrested most of the band's entourage. God Save The Queen is set to be re-released this summer in time for the Diamond Jubilee.
