It consisted of two rooms that stood either side of the archway leading into the Churchyard and many pupils will remember having to keep quite at 2.30 pm in the afternoon for funerals to process through the playground into the Church beyond. The first heads of the school were John and Elizabeth Jones who took up their duties at the end of 1839. They lived at No 35 Rock Road. In 1841 there were 112 pupils in the school with 8 employed as monitors. Fees: twopence per week and sixpence at entrance. The Infants' School open around 1870 and the school remained in its original premises until it moved from Church Street about 1967/68. The Rhosymedre "British" School was held in the Baptist Chapel.
