Royalty - Prince William 18th Birthday 2000

Available b/w only. Prince William walks down the Colonnade near the main school entrance wearing the school dress of black tail coat. It also has the distinction of 'stick ups' - the stiff wing collar and white tie - worn by all school officers, Heads of Houses and House Captains. In the Michaelmas and Lent Terms, Prince William was House Games Captain. In the Summer Term, he was appointed House Captain. William is also in Pop, Eton's small group of 21 elected prefects with a responsibility for a school of 1,280 boys. As a member of Pop, he is allowed to wear a waistcoat of his choice and sponge bag trousers. He has to supervise discipline and can impose small fines. Pop originated in 1811 as a debating society which met in Mrs Hatton's Lollipop Shop (which was on a site adjacent to Gailey's house, on which School Hall now stands).
