Library filer dated 26/11/98 of DJ John Peel whose decision to talk about his rape by an older pupil at boarding school has been welcomed by children's charity, the NSPCC, Sunday October 9, 2005. The NSPCC said celebrities could play a "vital role" in encouraging children to speak out about maltreatment and help to "break down the silence of abuse". The BBC disc jockey, who died a year ago at the age of 65 from a heart attack while holidaying in Peru, writes of the sexual demands made on new boys from ``study monitors" who were four or five years older. He also detailed how he was raped in a public toilet by an older pupil. See PA story SOCIAL Peel. PRESS ASSOCIATION photo. Photo Credit should read: PA
