St Winifred's has a long history having stood on the same site for over 100 years. At one time, sometime around 1967 - 1970, there existed another St Winifreds (St. Winifreds Convent). This was a Catholic Convent managed largely by Nuns. Ostensibly a girls only school, they did actaully accomodate approximately 10 boy pupils for a number of years. This 'other' St Winifred's is now the Welsh school in Holywell. (Lawrence Gallagher)
