I remember watching this episode when I was just six years old. Valerie Singleton was my hero.

Val is wearing her Blue Peter badge! Petra, Shep, and Jason the cat were the 'Blue Peter pets' for most of my childhood, and the studio was often hip-deep in small animals as a result. John Noakes famously looked after Shep on the show. Val usually had Jason. In this early photo, taken in 1965 when Chris Trace was still with the show, they don't yet seem to have decided to associate particular pets with a specific presenter.

Never forget that year as i got married and at that time we only had black and white TV and i loved Blue Peter as i love dogs

I remember Valerie Singleton and Christopher Trace so well from the early to mid 1960s.
Val was always making things with "sticky back plastic" I recall ;)
