Played the part to perfection. Read somewhere that at the end of her audition, she started to walk away, then glanced round & said something like "& you can put that in your pipe & smoke it!" not in the script but it got her the part! Seems there are conflicting views whether she was sweetness & light or the opposite - well, I'm sure I know what Ena would've said about that! Loved the banter in the "snug" at the Rovers between Ena & her gossip mates Minnie Caldwell & Martha Longhirst.
