I went twice, once with my school & once with my parents. As a school group we slept in a school in Penge, I still have some photos taken with a box Browny camera.

Skylon was made by Painter Brothers in Holmer road, Hereford next door to where I work. I read somewhere that the tower was not dismantled after the exhibition but just dumped in the Thames!

I remember the Festival of Britain on the South Bank. The Dome, The Pylon & the Telekinema where I first saw myself on a television screen!

I have a similar photo that I took when I was about 9 years old (obviously not as professional as the above photo). My dad was a keen photographer and bought me an old battered Box Brownie camera and some outdated B&W film and taught me how to use the camera. He entered me in a junior comptition and I won first prize for my efforts. I can remember standing my camera on the wall along the embankment opposite the festival.
