The Iranian Embassy In London Under Siege 1980

Six armed men took stormed the Iranian Embassy in South Kensington, taking 26 people hostage. The siege lasted until May 5, when the gunmen killed one of the hostages and the SAS were sent in. All but two of the hostages survived, and all but one of the terrorists were killed.

I remember Cliff Thorburn in the snooker final, which was interrupted, he became the first overseas player to win.

I was watching a Telly Savalas film which was also interupted. Inside Out, (1975) it was about a gang breaking into a bank. They initially meet up in the London Embassy Hotel. Fictitious, of course.
